A bulging/herniation of a disc is the dehydration of the cushioning tissue, or disc found between each vertebrae in the spine, resulting from trauma or aging. This loss of the disc's ability to provide shock absorption leads to either localized or radiating pain into the legs. MFR decreases tightness and fascial restrictions surrounding the problematic discs and vertebrae to prevent further dehydration of the discs and alleviate pain.
Tailbone pain often manifests after a severe fall, car wreck or childbirth and sometimes many months after the injury. Tail bone pain is caused by the coccyx being rotated, twisted or off center to one side. This can be corrected with MFR and is often easily maintained with self care.
Hip/buttock pain is often confused with low back pain/SI joint pain. It can be caused by an imbalance of the pelvis and spine causing the muscles of the hip to overwork and go into spasm causing sharp pain or a dull burning pain. The term “sciatica” is often the diagnosis given to this type of pain and can be easily corrected by aligning the pelvis, hips and spine.
Headaches/migraines can be caused by fascial restrictions in several areas of the body. Often it is related to the pelvis being out of alignment but it can be from restrictions in the abdomen, shoulder area, neck area or base of the skull. At FMPT we look at the whole body to determine the fascial restriction and treat the area of restriction not just the area of discomfort.
Osteoarthritis is pressure and compression in joints resulting in inflammation and wearing away of the cartilage or “cushion” between joint surfaces creating pain and stiffness. Osteoarthritis can be found in many joints of the body, but is commonly found in weight bearing joints such as hips and knees creating weakness and pain. Your myofascial release treatment will decrease tightness of tissues and fascial restrictions surrounding joints to alleviate pressure and compression in the joint. This can relieve pain, improve mobility of the joint, and prevent further wearing away of the cartilage. Also, aligning the body will decreased the compression on the joints and prevent further deterioration of the joint.
Shoulder pain can come from a tear of the tendons such as rotator cuff. but often the stress on the tendons is due to pressure or pull from fascial restrictions in other parts of the body. Releasing the restrictions from the trunk, abdomen, lower body as well as the arm and shoulder can increase the space n the shoulder joint, decrease pain and increase range of motion returning our patients to activities of daily living that is often restricted from shoulder pain and decreased range of motion.
Pain causes both emotional and physical stresses to the body. In some instances, the pain patterns develop and thus a person feels as if the pain has reached all parts of the body. Myofascial release not only works on painful parts, but it also addresses other dysfunctional areas throughout a person’s body. It works through enabling the nerve receptors, lymph and blood to work efficiently. Furthermore it enhances the secretion of endorphins and thus eliminates the requirement of other prescription drugs.
Myofascial release enhances blood flow and enables nutrients to reach the desired tissues, while making sure that metabolic wastes are removed. In fact, most circulatory conditions could possibly be alleviated or helped through releasing the fascia responsible for preventing optimal function of the body.
Key symptoms of nerve pain include tingling, numbness or pain in one’s arms/hands and legs/feet. The cause of these symptoms could be fascia adhesions that are pressing on the nerves.

For 40 yrs I have had severe pain due to Lupus, serious bone problems and back pain which lead me to schedule back surgery. After speaking with Jackie, I decided to give her treatment a try before my surgery. It has been two months and she has treated me with very positive results. She has shown me I can live a life PAIN-FREE while doing the activities that I could not do before. I have suspended my surgery and I feel like another person. Thank you Jackie for your dedication to me and I highly recommend her as a person and the type of therapy she provides.
