You will receive a one-on-one treatment with a non-traditional minded physical therapist. Your first session will involve a medical history and evaluation of posture, body alignment, functional/dysfunctional movement and pain assessment inconjuction with your feedback and input to the treatment plan. Your first session is 90 minutes for the physical therapy evaluation and hands-on treatment. The treatment is based on and follows your individual needs and your unique fascial restrictions so prior to your treatment it is important to let us know if and to what extent you experience: pain, decreased or increased sensations, difficulty sleeping, mood changes, difficulty with activities you perform daily.
Your treatment is performed directly on skin which enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascial restrictions present in connective tissue, surrounding organs and muscles.
You will need to have skin free of lotions/oils, wear or bring shorts (shorts and bra/sports bra for women) or swim suit and/or you may chose to be draped during treatment.
A quiet environment is essential to calm your body and mind of both you and therapist so chit chat during treatment is kept at a minimum.
You will be provided with a safe, non-judgemental healing space, where confidentiality, trust and professionalism are of utmost importance.
Your time is seen as valuable. Therefore, your appointment will be kept in a timely fashion.
You are in control of the session. Open communication/Feedback before, during and/or after the treatment is suggested and encouraged. Your words and body language will be listened to and respected.
Self Treatment is also suggested, encouraged and discussed. It is the most effective way to keep up on the progress that is made during your sessions. You will be shown self-care treatments you can perform at home. You can expect structural integration of the new expanded space in the body and movement will enhance the quality and comfort of your life.
You will find that your treatments are gentle and relaxing, but from time to time a session may be therapeutically challenging. Our bodies are FEELING, PHYSICAL beings. We often tune out pain and other unpleasant sensations, but we encourage you to feel ALL sensations that may arise. This is what our bodies need to do to heal. Your therapist will help you recognize, acknowledge and understand the necessity behind these therapeutically uncomfortable moments. It is most important to know that although MFR may bring up physical or emotional pain. Your therapist will never attempt to force a release. JFB MFR does not force and will never injure you.
POST-TREATMENT:
It is important to listen to your body after a session, and know that some delayed soreness may be experienced. This is a NATURAL part of the healing process. It is important to discuss any pain or discomfort with your therapist. As your body becomes more aligned it allows muscles to efficiently contract where they may have been unable to do so before causing soreness in different parts of the body.
Drink plenty of water following your treatments and give yourself permission to experience these sensations to the fullest.
